CricRover Weekly Rankings: How We Pick the Top Performers of the Week

Each week, CricRover publishes a definitive cricket rankings article covering the best batting and bowling performances from all completed international matches. The Top 5 Batters by CBI and Top 5 Bowlers by BPI are ranked purely on data — no editorial influence, no sponsorship. Just cricket analytics.

How the Weekly Rankings Work

The CricRover analytics engine reads every match report from the past 7 days and extracts the top performer from each innings. These are then ranked globally:

  • Top 5 Batters — ranked by their highest single-innings CBI score during the week
  • Top 5 Bowlers — ranked by their highest single-spell BPI score during the week

Why Single-Innings, Not Aggregate?

Traditional "player of the week" picks often reward players who simply played more matches. CricRover's approach focuses on peak performance — identifying the single most impactful innings or bowling spell of the week, regardless of how many matches were played.

This means a player who delivers one exceptional performance in a single match can rank above a player who posted consistent but unremarkable scores across multiple games.

Cross-Format Rankings

Because CBI and BPI are format-normalised, a Test batter and a T20 batter can be meaningfully compared. A CBI of 130 in a Test is considered equivalent in contextual impact to a CBI of 130 in a T20 — both are exceptional relative to their format benchmarks.

Where to Find the Rankings

Weekly rankings are published as standalone articles in the CricRover News section every Sunday. Each ranking article includes:

  • Full ranked tables with linked match reports
  • Spell/innings details for each performer
  • The specific match and opposition context
  • A week-in-review summary of international cricket

🏆 Rankings Coverage

Weekly rankings cover all completed international cricket: Tests, ODIs, T20Is, and recognised women's international matches. Domestic leagues (IPL, BBL, PSL, etc.) are intentionally excluded to focus on true international competition.

CricRover weekly rankings auto-publish every Sunday. Rankings are based solely on algorithmic analysis — no editorial curation involved.
